I have X10DRU-i+ server with AOC-S3008L-L8E HBA. I also have a Western Digital 1TB WD Red SA500 NAS 3D NAND Internal SSD - SATA III drive that I’m trying to use as a boot device. When I go into the HBA controller screen, I can see the drive and I have set it as the boot device there. But I cannot get it to boot from that device. It doesn’t show up as an option. I’ve tried many different settings in the BIOS, but nothing seems to make a difference.
I can boot via IPMI media and usb drives. Any advice?
From your description, your X10DRU has AOC-S3008L-L8E HBA

If you installed OS on to the drive, and it won’t boot is because BIOS cannot find the boot loader or boot sector. Make sure you install your OS in either Legacy or UEFI boot. If UEFI boot, change the controller OptROM in the BIOS to UEFI.
