2U Dual Processor Rackmounts

AS-2125HS-TNR is an AMD based storage-oriented platform that focuses on the compute. Going from Milan to Genoa, we moved onto PCIe Gen5 and DDR5 memory, so we doubled the amount of PCIe bandwidth that we have. We also have 128 lanes between the two CPU sockets. The fourth high speed GMI link between the sockets is much appreciated. The system has a simple but very effective mechanism for routing cooling the CPUs. DDR5 memory; however, is using a bit more power than the last generation of DDR4.

Today is a very fun and interesting round of benchmarking... Recently Supermicro sent over their Hyper SuperServer SYS-221H-TNR and Intel supplied the Xeon Max 9468 and Xeon Max 9480 for finally being able to benchmark Xeon Max processors, the Sapphire Rapids parts featuring 64GB of HBM2e memory.

Today we are going to take a quick look at the Supermicro Hyper-E that I recently got some hands-on time with at Supermicro headquarters.

The Supermicro Ultra SuperServer SYS-220U-TNR offers 22x hybrid 2.5” hot-swap drive bays, supporting NVMe, SATA, or SAS storage in a 2U rack system. As part of Supermicro’s X12 Ultra motherboards, this system features two third-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Ice Lake) making it ideal for software-defined storage, cloud computing, and telecom use cases.

620P-TRT Mainstream server could be an all-in-one solution for small and medium businesses. In this video, Jeff is setting it up as a traditional small business server and showing you what you can fit inside of a 2U package. Inside, it has Xeon Gold 6330 3rd Gen Intel Scalable Processors each with 28 cores and 56 threads. Backing up all of this CPU horsepower, this server supports up to 4TB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. You can also support up to 160TB of raw storage using today's higher capacity drives. It is a pretty compelling server that can fit just about anywhere.
